Burned Exhaust

This Tips page will have all kinds of helpful information for you. Some tips will have to do with riding, some with maintenance, and some with installation suggestions about Cobra parts. It's a broad ranging section that's devoted to helping you be a better, safer rider and a more accomplished motorcycle owner.

Exhaust Tip for That Rubber Sole

Every rider experiences painful moments such as the dreaded boot-heel-rubber-to-hot-pipe-melt-scorch. Don't worry. We're here to help. We've all done it. Touched a flaming hot exhaust pipe with our boot heel. You get the ugly scorch on otherwise pristine chrome. The blood pressure goes up. Now you're hot, too. Before you reach for something sharp, take a second.

Relax. Go inside and pour a cool beverage. This fix is so easy, you'll be shaking your head smiling soon. Let the pipes get cold to the touch. Then, spray the scorched area with a good coating of Easy-Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner and forget about it. Trust us. In the morning, that nasty mess should rinse off with cold water quicker than greased lightning.

Emissions Notice

The state of California considers aftermarket exhaust systems to be legal replacement parts for non-catalyst equipped motorcycles and/or if slip-on mufflers are installed downstream of the OEM catalysts.

California does not allow the use of aftermarket systems that remove original equipment catalysts, (except for racing use only) unless the Air Resources Board has issued an Executive Order for that system.

For California riders we offer Air Resources Board approved Fi2000 R ARB units. (ARB E.O. No. D-633-1). All other Fi2000 models are not legal for street use in California.
