This project started out as a 1941 Harley 61 cu. inch "Knucklehead" LAPD Police bike. A "1%" biker (no names!) from Tujunga, California bought it at a Police auction in 1968. He chopped it soon after and rode it all over the South-west until the early '90's when he became a 'guest' of the California State Correctional System. I bought the bike from him in '03 after 35 years of ownership, and started the rebuild/restoration. He gave me a scrapbook with pictures of the bike, the "Knuckle" had been through several incarnations during his ownership.
The rebuild took about a year of my spare time, and I gave it updated electrics and engine modifications. The enine is now 74 cu. inches, bored and stroked, chrom-moly rods, forged flywheels and modern Timken and Torrington bearings with seals throughout. The cam, lifters and oil pump are Sifton. All the cases are polished with chromed hardware. The heads feature hardened stainless steel valves with bronze guides and a 38mm '60's Mikuni carb. The belt drive primary has a Primo diaphram dry plate clutch inside the '41 chromed covers. The 'ratchet' transmission is an Andrews wide-ratio 4-speed with modern bearings and seals. The pipes, mufflers and carb cover are from Paughco. The frame was raked in '68 to 45 degrees with a 15" over narrow springer forks with a 21" spool wheel. The rear wheel is the stock '41 mechanical brake 16 inch assembly, completely chromed. The tires are from Avon. The original front fender is now on the back. The 'King&Queen' seat was recovered by Kevin Lehan. I did the metal work on the 'axed' Harley tank, frame and rear fender. Zeek McPeek custom mixed the antique white pearl paint and applied it to the completely molded frame and body parts. It's a reliable daily rider and I enjoyed rebuilding it...

The state of California considers aftermarket exhaust systems to be legal replacement parts for non-catalyst equipped motorcycles and/or if slip-on mufflers are installed downstream of the OEM catalysts.
California does not allow the use of aftermarket systems that remove original equipment catalysts, (except for racing use only) unless the Air Resources Board has issued an Executive Order for that system.
For California riders we offer Air Resources Board approved Fi2000 R ARB units. (ARB E.O. No. D-633-1). All other Fi2000 models are not legal for street use in California.
